UP Kearney Sub

UP's Kearny Sub runs from West Grand Island to North Platte, Nebraska. You can see anywhere up to 100 trains per day. Two Dispatch channels can be used: 160.470 is East Grand Island, NE to Keith, NE, and 160.680 is Keith, NE to Platte River.

The Golden Spike Tower is very unique- it's a museum and observation deck overlooking the biggest rail yard in the world, Bailey Yard. The yard is so big that it has two hump yards, one for each direction, and contains over 300 miles of track. From the top of the tower the engine shops are clearly visible, as is the east hump. With a drone you can get even better views, and there aren't any airports or no fly zones nearby (Excluding temporary flight restrictions, always check for those).
