BNSF's Second Subdivision is a piece of the ex-MRL mainline that runs between Spurling, MT and Helena, MT. It goes over the famous Bozeman Pass, where heavy westbounds still use manned helpers to this day, before running along the Missouri River into Helena.
This location is a fantastic spot to get trains on the Second Subdivision. The backdrop is a mountain range, snowcapped even in late June. This is an area you'll need to plan in advance for- if you keep heading west on I-90, it can be very difficult to turn around if you see an eastbound as I did. I barely raced it to this area after seeing it near Livingston.
