UP Portland Subdivision

UP's line from Portland to Hinkle, along the Columbia River. In Troutdale, the line splits in two: the Graham Line parallels I-84 and the Kenton Line runs through north Portland to Albina yard. Willamette Bridge Line runs from Union Station to East Portland where the Kenton and Graham Lines meet.

John Day River Bridge

UP Portland Subdivision, Milepost 113.9

Looking east as an intermodal crosses the bridge.
Seattle-bound garbage empties crossing the bridge at sunset.
Located just east of Goff siding, directly off of I-84. The easiest place to park will be a dirt turnout right next to the westbound on-ramp. Alternatively you can park at La Page Park up the road and walk to the bridge. You can get great shots of trains snaking along the river and crossing the bridge. An iconic spot and one that can't be missed if you're railfanning the Portland sub!
